Do you teach French and wish you had ready-to-go French 2 resources? I’ve been there!
French 2 is one of my favorite classes to teach. Why? They are still beginners, so everything is still fun and exciting, but they can actually start to do things with the language.
I didn’t always love it, though. When I started teaching, I had a French 1 textbook, but I had no French 2 resources AT ALL! It’s not the easiest level to teach, because there is quite a lot of grammar, which meant tons of time creating resources for my students.
Nearly 20 years later, it might be my favorite level to create for! With the passé composé, students are no longer stuck in the present tense. By using object pronouns, they can speak and write more naturally. And I’ve never had a student who didn’t love the French house unit!
Here are some of my favorite French 2 resources.
Passé composé unit
This one is a ton of fun, because students can now talk about their weekends. It makes Monday chat sessions so much more fun!
Structured grammar activities allow students to learn different each different part of the passé composé before moving on to a more difficult aspect of it. They’ll start with avoir verbs, learn irregular past participles, then learn the verbs conjugated with être. Throughout the student activity packet, there are writing activities, speaking practice, and games to help them really understand each new lesson.

The PowerPoint presentations are an engaging way to present the topics in a way that all students will love. Each set includes a version for Google Slides™ where students can answer right on their own documents, too.

Fun speaking activities help the students use the language in meaningful ways. Who cares if they can conjugate French verbs if they don’t know how to speak, right?

French places unit
This is one of my favorite French 2 resources because it is always so much fun! Students LOVE to talk about places they go. This unit is an extension of my French city unit for level 1, so they learn new places and vocabulary, but all of the basics are covered, too, meaning this can be used for students just learning places for the first time.
I use this unit to start out my French 2 year, so it helps students review French 1 concepts and gets them ready for the year ahead. They’ll review aller and venir, learn savoir and connaître, and have fun using the imperative to give directions.
The student activity packet is filled with French writing activities and speaking activities so that students can get tons of practice in a variety of ways.

With the ideal city French project, they really get to show off what they know! Students have so much fun planning their dream cities, because they get to choose which francophone country it will be in!
If you have more advanced students, you can make it more challenging by using the all-French version, but the entire project comes in an English version that is perfect for beginners.

French house unit
This is another one of my favorite French 2 resources, because it flows perfectly into my French reflexive verbs lessons that I teach next. I love to teach students all the house and home vocabulary first, because then it combines so well with the reflexive verbs I need to teach later on.
Like all other units, this unit is based around an easy-to-use student activity packet filled with French speaking and writing activities just right for level 2 students. Students love the paired activities like this one shown below, because the structure sets them up for success as they practice asking and answering questions using the unit vocabulary.

Also in this unit is vocabulary slap which is my students’ all-time favorite game! There are plenty of sets for level 2, including this French house set. It’s SUCH a fun way to review vocabulary words, and the kids get so engaged!
Students love racing to find the word first. Just use the image cards and call out the French word or use the word cards for some translation practice. Have students who need more practice? Print them back to back for flashcards.
French 2 resources for the entire year
These French 2 resources are available in a year-long bundle of 8 complete French 2 units. In each unit, there is with a unit test and different speaking and writing quizzes, giving you a lot of assessment options.
The pacing guide and scope and sequence make your year-long planning so much easier! You’ll know exactly what to teach and how long you should allow for. There are so many activities to choose from in each unit that you can change it up as you wish, so you stay excited about what you’re teaching.
With the heavy planning done for you, it’s such a time-saver, meaning you can spend less time planning and more time teaching!

What do teachers say about this bundle of French 2 resources?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”This is phenomenal! I already have Bundle 1, and with Bundle 2, now I can meet the needs of all of my grades 4 – 8 Core French students in Ontario. Thank you so much! Everything is so well prepared.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”This bundle is amazingly complete and is easily used to follow our scope and sequence. There are plenty of differentiated activities that are optional to do with kids. For kids needing a copy of notes, this is exactly what I use for that. Everyone gets a packet and we work through the exercises in addition to my direct instruction. The assessments are fair and easily chunked for students who need additional time. The graphics are happy and enrich the resources.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”Absolutely fabulous resource. There are so many different activities covering all domains. Her resources are just so thorough and even include answer keys. They are exactly what I would do if I had endless hours of free time to prep. One of the best items I have ever purchased from TpT. Thank you so much!”
