Description
Make teaching French reading comprehension in your core French or French immersion class so much easier with these differentiated French reading activities! This set includes 10 French texts with differentiated questions so that you can easily offer just the right challenge to your core French, FSL or French immersion students. With these no-prep activities, this is perfect for centers or substitute days, too!
Foster a love of reading in your core French or French immersion class with easy-to-use French reading comprehension worksheets that were created just for beginning readers. Each text includes 3 different levels of questions, so you can easily use the same passage with different ability groups and grade levels. Students will love that these French reading activities are just at their level, meaning that reading is less intimidating and a lot more fun!
Who are these French reading activities good for?
These questions are appropriate for beginning Core French students and French immersion classes who are ready to transition to slightly more challenging grammar and vocabulary. This packet contains more advanced concepts than my reading comprehension sets 1 and 2, however the reading passages are similar in length.
Grade level will vary based on when students began studying French. See the images to determine if the grade level is appropriate for your students. Still not sure? Email me at mmersresources (at) gmail.com.
Use these differentiated French reading comprehension activities for more-advanced beginners with your different proficiency levels.
Each passage includes:
- Short answer English questions and students can answer in English : These questions will be the easiest for true beginners in core French or FSL.
- Short answer French questions : This has the same style of questions as the English, however, the questions are in French and students are directed to answer in French. These are best for your more-advanced learners or French immersion classes.
- Multiple choice questions in French : Occasionally, students will locate specific information in the text (such as adjectives or certain verb tenses). These are great for any level, as the questions are a bit different than the short answer versions.
You can choose all one version for a class, but I like to use different versions based on student levels so that differentiation is super-easy! You can always print 2 versions back-to-back and let students choose their own activity.
Use this set of French reading activities to introduce or reinforce:
- the passé composé
- reflexive verbs in the present and passé composé
- health and wellness
- chores around the house
- the futur simple (basic recognition required for one reading- perfect for the end of French 2!)

Originally reviewed on TPTI used those text for my core french classes. They are pretty weak so this was perfect. I really appreciated that it was already modified so that I could decide which copy to give to my students without having to mess with the formating myself.
