French worksheets are not the only way to teach, of course! However, students need written practice for verb conjugation and vocabulary. A well-structured activity packet will walk them through all of the skills they need to master. With solid examples, detailed instructions, and effective written activities, French worksheets can be a meaningful component of a solid French unit.
French worksheets for beginners
Structured activities that increase in difficulty as students progress through the packet are really helpful for beginning French students. With explanations and directions in English, they can work on their own at home, too. This means less fear of not being able to understand.
French vocabulary packets

Beginning French students need a lot of different ways to practice new vocabulary. Worksheets don’t have to be just fill in the blank activities. Many of my vocabulary-themed French worksheets contain writing practice plus speaking activities, verb games, and reading comprehension.
These French clothing activities are fun for beginners. Students love to talk about clothes, but their vocabulary is very limited, so they need a lot of structure. This pack has speaking activities and games, worksheets, and reading comprehension that are all geared towards students with very little exposure to French.

These French worksheets for greetings are perfect for beginning French students who are just starting out! They’ll start to understand the basics of formal and familiar speech and they’ll love the speaking activities designed just for brand-new students who might be hesitant to speak!
What do French teachers say about Mme R’s French worksheets for vocabulary?

Ariel T. says: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I used these worksheets as a part of our initial vocab presentation- they are different than regular guided notes, and provided something different for students to do. These went into their interactive notebooks, and they really enjoyed them. The practice is clear, the directions as well. I love this resource! Un très grand merci!” – about the greetings worksheets
French worksheets for verb conjugation
French worksheets like this one for the verb aller teach the students how to conjugate, form complete sentences, form negative sentences, and answer questions. In addition, students learn how to use the futur proche which greatly expands their communication skills to talk about the upcoming weekend or even just what they’ll be doing after school.
This packet, just like all the other verb packets in this series have English notes and directions and a full-French version. They are perfect for review, and they can be used in Core and Immersion.

Teachers are loving this French worksheets bundle with avoir, faire, être, aller, and venir!
It includes the aller packet above plus four other common French verbs beginners need to know. All packets teach conjugation, negation, and using complete sentences. In addition, students will answer common questions, learn new vocabulary with a lot of images to support learning, and pick up common expressions or uses of these verbs along the way!
Jinal P. says: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “This resource was so helpful with teaching verbs. It has various ways that the students can practice using the verb and it really helped the students learn conjugations. I would highly, highly recommend this resource. I will definitely be using it again in the future!”
Amy M. says: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”I love these! My students love these! So simple and helpful. I find my students holding on to these more than other handouts from class. They see the value. Merci!”
French worksheets for advancing beginners:
Students who are still in the beginner range can move forward with confidence as they begin to move to full-French versions. With complex grammar topics, it can be really helpful to offer students a French or English version of the explanations.
The passé composé is a very important part of a lot of beginning French courses. These passé composé worksheets are filled with writing activities, games, speaking activities, exit tickets, and a lot more for the Core French and French immersion classroom. It includes a version with English explanations and directions as well as a full-French version for review or immersion classes.

My themed packs are really popular in both Core and Immersion for teaching grammar in a thematic context. Students can learn complex structures like direct and indirect object pronouns in a themed vocabulary unit like these French party vocabulary worksheets.

French worksheets for intermediate and advanced students
Students in the intermediate and advanced range of French still need that guided practice if they are to effectively learn complex structures. Far too often, I found that the resources I had explained things very quickly and never provided enough practice for my students. As a result, I had to do a lot of supplementing!
Because I didn’t have what I needed, I created my own units for all the grammar structures I taught. Common topics like le futur simple, le conditionnel, and le subjonctif became much easier with effective practice.
I’ve got tons of stand-alone French verb worksheets for practicing the different tenses, but I’ve also recently created a childhood-themed imparfait unit with fun activities to challenge intermediate students. They’ll love the clarity of the explanations, and the speaking activities will give them meaningful practice to apply the skills they’re learning.

Complex structures like si clauses can be so much fun! However, students need to master the structure before they can do the fun what if... type of activities that my kids have always loved! Another new themed resource is this health-themed French conditional packet. It’s a great tool when teaching students the structures in context. Once the get the structures down, you’ll be free to do tons of creative speaking and writing prompts that are so much fun!

Teachers love my French worksheets for intermediates!

Wes C. says: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “As always, Mme. R delivers in quality on her resources. This was a great resource for my French 3’s to learn le conditionnel.” – about the French conditional worksheets
