Make teaching French reading comprehension in your core French or French immersion class so much easier with these differentiated French reading activities! This set includes 10 French texts with differentiated questions so that you can easily offer just the right challenge to your core French, FSL or French immersion students. With these no-prep activities, this is perfect for centers or substitute days, too! These 10 French reading passages are the perfect way to help your intermediate French students read more difficult texts.

Each text includes 3 different levels of questions, so you can easily use the same passage with different ability groups and grade levels. Students will love that these French reading activities are just at their level, meaning that reading is less intimidating and a lot more fun!

Who are these French reading activities good for?

This packet contains more advanced concepts than my reading comprehension sets 1-3, but the reading passages are still short and accessible enough to be used with Core French students who have at at least 2 years of French and immersion classes working the imparfait, le future simple, le sujbonctif, and other more advanced grammar topics.

Use these differentiated French reading comprehension activities for students in or moving towards the intermediate range. The choice of activities makes it easy to provide just the right challenge to your students of different proficiency levels.

Each passage includes:

• Short answer English questions and students can answer in English :  These questions will be the easiest for students who need more support.
• Short answer French questions : This has the same style of questions as the English, however, the questions are in French and students are directed to answer in French. These are best for your more-advanced learners or French immersion classes.
• Multiple choice questions in French : Occasionally, students will locate specific information in the text. These are great for any level, as the questions are a bit different than the short answer versions.

You can choose all one version for a class, but I like to use different versions based on student levels so that differentiation is super-easy! You can always print 2 versions back-to-back and let students choose their own activity.

Use this set of French reading activities to introduce or reinforce:

• the passé composé and the imparfait together
• reflexive verbs in the present and passé composé
• health and wellness
• chores around the house
• le futur simple
• the French subjunctive
• conjugating être passé composé verbs with avoir (when using direct objects)
• the French conditional tense
• adjectives and adverbs

These French reading passages use vocabulary perfect for teaching/reinforcing the following vocabulary :

• shopping
• travel/countries

• house/neighborhood

No English passages are included.
