These French fall resources are such a fun way to mix up your lessons a bit! It doesn’t have to be hard to bring seasonal vocabulary into the classroom, but if you do, the work should be meaningful. Sure, it’s fun to decorate for the season, and all students love playing games, but isn’t it more effective when the new vocabulary helps them practice the skills you need to teach?
Keep reading to learn about some French fall resources that help students practice the skills they need to be successful in Core French or French immersion.
French fall write the room activity
Sometimes it’s not easy to figure out just how to present new French vocabulary terms. Write the room is a fun activity that helps visual learners and provides movement while requiring students to write the words themselves.
Just place the word and image cards on the wall around the room. Give students a vocabulary sheet with the images of the words you’ll use. Then, have students go from card to card creating their own vocabulary lists. It’s a fun and engaging way to provide movement while you expose students to new French vocabulary words.

French fall resources for vocabulary and verbs
Looking teach some fall-themed vocabulary but need to work on the verbs they have to know for your standards? These fall worksheets are perfect for reviewing key concepts with a seasonal theme!
Students will progress through the scaffolded activities from practicing basic French fall vocabulary to conjugating common verbs in the present tense. It’s perfect for adding new content while reviewing past concepts (like that spiral review you might already do, right?)

Once they’ve gotten a little time with the vocabulary, you’ll be able to have some fun! They’ll have so much fun talking to classmates with the speaking activities designed to build student confidence by asking them to complete tasks appropriate for beginners. Have them work with partners to ask and answer questions using the new fall vocabulary they’ve been learning.

Next, it’s time to work on some French verbs! These French fall resources are all created to support the standards you’re already teaching, so if verb conjugation is something you need to work on (and I’m betting it is!) then this will be super-helpful!
Whether your students are working on the basic French verbs (er verbs, avoir, faire, être, aller) or even if they’re already working on multiple tenses, you’ll find no-prep activities to practice French verbs. Use them all as part of a French fall unit or print a page or two for your fast finishers as a fun fall review!

French speaking cards
Conjugating French verbs and learning new vocabulary are both really important in helping students become better communicators. However, if students are going to become more comfortable with the language, and in turn, more proficient, then they need plenty of opportunities to speak French during your class time.
These speaking cards are one of my favorite French fall resources, because they are a fun way to get even the most hesitant speakers to talk to their classmates. This set includes 88 French conversation prompts for fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving, so this is one of the French fall resources you can use them all throughout fall!
I use these in all kinds of ways, and this set includes different activity ideas that will help you keep it fresh so you don’t get bored doing the same activity over and over!
