With these ready-to-go French Thanksgiving activities, you can practice speaking and writing with your students in fun and engaging ways. Because I have often taught 4 or more levels at a time, I realize how important it is to have a resource you can use with different groups. It makes lesson planning so much easier!
Here are some things you’ll find in my French Thanksgiving pack.
Speaking and writing activities even beginners can do!
With a variety of activities including matching, fill-in-the-blank, and scrambled sentences, it’s easy to find activities to challenge your students. You can do a whole Thanksgiving unit or just pick a few worksheets to do with each level for some seasonal fun.
Ready-to-go printables
Having activities on-hand is perfect for sub days, learning centers, or after tests and quizzes. This fun page makes a great bulletin board for your French classroom, too! Even high school students love relaxing activities like this!
Fun vocabulary puzzles
Students love vocabulary puzzles and they are a great activity for fast finishers! Students will love unscrambling words, finding hidden words, and completing the crossword. Keep a few in your sub folder or have them ready-to-go for days when students need something quiet to do (like after a unit quiz.)
French Thanksgiving speaking activities
From partnered activities like this face à face activity to whole-class find someone who surveys and more, there are plenty of ways for French students to practice their speaking skills! This pack includes 4 different speaking activities, so you can mix them up with different ability groups. It’s the perfect way to help them practice this much-needed skill in a meaningful way.
This includes:
- Find someone who – using present and passé composé
- Face à face for vocabulary practice – perfect for beginners
- Preferences comparison activity – perfect for beginners
- Partner interview and paragraph summary – This is more challenging and appropriate for students who have had 1-2 years French or more.
French Thanksgiving writing prompts
This French Thanksgiving pack includes a variety of writing activities, so your beginners can feel successful writing while your more-advanced students can show their writing skills with more-complex topics. It also includes thank you letter pages, so you can have students show their appreciation to parents, teachers, and others!
My beginners love the sentence-starter activities shown below, because it helps them use the vocabulary in meaningful ways without stressing about verb conjugation and sentence structure. More advanced classes will have fun with this “Si j’étais un dindon…” activity, because it will let their creativity show and allow them to have fun with more-advanced topics like the imparfait and the conditionnel.
You’ll also find other easy-to-use prompts for beginners to practice the futur proche and the passé composé, so you can have a writing session that works for all levels!
I’m so thankful that I get to be part of your teaching journey! Joyeuse Action de grâce !
